(delhibirdpix) Blue-bearded Bee-eater

The Blue-bearded Bee-eater (Nyctyornis athertoni) is a bird which is seen in this season near the Morni barrier (Haryana), It has also been recorded from the Kasauli-parwanoo road distt Solan Himachal Pradesh  during the last HSBC bird run in Feb 2014 .
This species is partial to the flowering Eucalyptus trees as these are visited by bees in search of nectar. I was able to track a pair down after hearing their contact call a deep short kor-r-r at Morni today . The bird is not as active as other bee- eaters and can sit motionless for extended periods of time making it difficult to spot.
