[BirdPhotoIndia] Slender-billed Scimitar Babbler

A Slender-billed Scimitar Babbler (Xiphirhynchus superciliaris) whose illustration in the field guides has no correlation to the excitement it causes on an actual sighting. This time was also no exception with the road side sighting while we were driving to Dzuluk lifted everybody's spirit on a rain drenched afternoon
April 2nd, Zuluk, Sikkim

Trivia : Posted with the 'old' genus name Xiphirhynchus which to me was more appropriate as it referred to a sword albeit to a straight one and not the curved makhaira which would have been perfect. IOC has now moved it to Pomatorhinus which translates to an insipid nostril cover!
