(delhibirdpix) The Commoners - # 68.09 - Purple Sunbird (Nectarinia asiatica) - 2015-117

Purple Sunbird taken at home - Sector 15A Noida, India - on June 10 2015.

The Male of this species is way too difficult a bird to shoot to show the 

luminance and the range of colours - like most such birds.  

The first of this season - they are calling all the time. Nesting somewhere in the

vicinity and I think they are breeding a second time in the season.  Several years

ago, when they nested in my front yard, they bred twice.
