(delhibirdpix) Portrait # 052 - The Commoners - # 180.11 - Oriental Pratincole (Glareola maldivarum) - 2015-110

The highlight was a pair of Oriental Pratincole who were breeding in the same

general area last year as well.  They let us come close as their nest was in

near vicinity.  Hopefully, the chicks hatch soon - before the field is sown as it

looked ready and waiting for rain or may even be irrigated with ground water from

a bore-well.

The Field Guides show breeding in a small territory in Western India and isolated

records in the North.  With breeding noticed at several place in this area, have

classified it as a Commoner now.
