(delhibirdpix) The Migratory Passerine - # 41.00 - Indian Pitta (Pitta brachyura) - 2015-152

This is one of the more colourful birds - known to have nine colours and that is
why perhaps Indian Pitta is called Navrang in Hindi.

A Lifer.

Indian Pitta had been on the wish-list for a long time.  Sighting and Breeding was
reported from Jaipur - Jhalana Forest.  Should we go or should be not go was a
question of debate.

Now and then, reports came from around Delhi and one even from the
neighbourhood in Noida (Pretty Late after being sighted).

Then, Dr. Neelam saw it at Mangar Bani (very near Delhi) in Haryana, India
on 12th July 2015 but we came to know on 19th (another story).

First on 23rd trip was just no go - no luck - no sighting, no calls. Then, it was sighted
on 24th in the afternoon and we got a call today morning that two were showing up.
Chase for Rain Quail - might have been another lifer - given up and a drive made
to Mangar Bani.

Disappointment - no activity for over an hour.  All food too finished.  Then, as we
were leaving it responded to a call.  Two birds responded but we could sight only
one that decided to oblige us.
