(delhibirdpix) Portrait # 067 - The Commoners - # 180.15 - Oriental Pratincole (Glareola maldivarum) - 2015-139

Another nice and very pleasant Birding Day at Dhanauri Kalan, (50 KMs SSE of Delhi),
Greater Noida, India on 5th July 2015.

The day was not that warm with clouds and some breeze blowing.  All usual birds were
presenting themselves.

Sarus Cranes were showing the typical pattern of dispersing to their feeding area now
that the paddy has been sown and more underway.  Initially, we saw just a couple of
pair but then they started flying in and when we were about to leave there were over
20 of them.

Surprise towards the end was the sighting of over a dozen pratincoles.  This was a
'typical' area for them to be seen nesting but that was not to be - may be there were
a few better sites for them.

Good to see a number of young ones - saw at least four in different stage of plumage
assumption.

Here are these.

Cheers.
